Loading Dock Rules
- Always check for moving vehicles before entering the dock area
- Stay clear of dock edges and use designated walkways
- Never walk under elevated loads or forklifts
- Maintain three points of contact when climbing on/off trucks
- Report any damaged dock equipment immediately
- Keep dock areas clear of debris and obstructions
PPE Requirements
- Hard hats must be worn in all loading dock areas
- Steel-toed boots are mandatory for all lumpers
- High-visibility vests required when working near vehicles
- Safety glasses must be worn when handling materials
- Work gloves required for all manual handling tasks
- Hearing protection required in high-noise areas
Equipment Operation
- Only operate equipment you are certified and trained for
- Perform pre-use inspections on all equipment
- Never exceed equipment weight limits
- Use proper hand signals when working with equipment operators
- Report any equipment malfunctions immediately
- Keep hands and body clear of pinch points
Emergency Procedures
- Know the location of emergency exits and assembly points
- Report all injuries immediately, no matter how minor
- Know where first aid kits and fire extinguishers are located
- In case of fire, evacuate immediately and call 911

- Use appropriate PPE when working with chemicals
- Follow all posted site-specific safety requirements
Weather Safety
- Stay hydrated during hot weather conditions
- Take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas when needed
- Watch for signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and coworkers
- Use caution on wet or icy surfaces during inclement weather
- Seek shelter during severe weather warnings
- Report unsafe weather conditions to site supervisor
